The folks at Levi’s ® have been knocking it out the park recently with a host of collabs that feed my geek girl soul. They’ve partnered with some of my favourite franchises to bring a host of clothing items that are fun, funky and embody the brands they’ve partnered with. Their most recent collab is the Levi’s ® X LEGO one. I was one of the lucky few who were sent some items from the collection and I thought I’d put together a look book showcasing the items and the inspiration between the collab.
I’ll mention it in the disclosure at the bottom of this post but to remind you, I was gifted both collection items you see here.
This isn’t the first time I’ve discussed the Levi’s ® collaborations. The first one they released was with Star Wars and they followed it up with a Nintendo collab. If you’d like to see both those collaborations and the pieces that form part of them, here are some links:
I’m pretty vocal about my love for LEGO and I really enjoyed seeing them partner up with the iconic denim brand for a clothing range that appeals to the child in each of us who loves those bricks. The beauty of LEGO has always been the art of customisation and allowing your imagination to take flight. Levi’s ® found a way to harness this customisation in the garments they released.
This is the denim jacket that is part of the collaboration. You’ll notice the yellow base plate on the breast. The jacket came with a small bag of LEGO attached to the label. This allows you to customise the base plate to your unique feel. In these photos I haven’t customised but you are able to. The bag includes 110 LEGO dots that you can decorate the silicone plate with. The plate is malleable as well, so moves with you. Which is really nice. The patch is also included on the hoodie (which I showcase later in this blog post). It is also on the crewneck sweat shirt (which I was not sent).
The Levi’s ® X LEGO hoodie
This is one of my favourite items from the Levi’s ® collaborations to date. The hoodie incorporates the solid bright colours synonymous with the original LEGO bricks. The colour blocking is done in such a way that it just amplifies the effect. I also really loved the small details like the red in the hoodie, the black back and the small detailed colour changes in the hoodie drawstrings.
The items you see here were both a bit big for me but I kind of liked the oversized effect. I think it adds to the juxtaposition of the oversized items that are specifically communicating the features of LEGO (something that brings out the child in each of us) works really well. The hoodie also has a silicone LEGO label on the side that reminds me of the same logo you find on any box of LEGO you might buy.
The collection is now available in Levi’s ® stores in South Africa and online. The denim jacket retails for R1499. The hoodie isn’t available online but the crewneck sweatshirt is and costs R1299.
Disclosure: As mentioned before, I was gifted both the denim jacket and Levi’s ® X LEGO hoodie.
I usually send out a weekly mailer with a recap of blog posts but also some personal anecdotes. If you want to know about competitions or just catch up in a more personal setting then you might like to receive the mailer.
