To be writing about esports hosting work in the time of Corona! Didn’t think I’d be doing a blog post like this for a long while. But it turns out, I was wrong. The awesome folks at Vodacom came up with a novel way to keep their Vodacom Super rugby players competing during lock down and us entertained, with the Vodacom SuperCup Series. It’s a 3 week competition where, each week, professional rugby players compete against each other to come out victorious and face off against South African gamers. Week 1 saw the players compete in FIFA and week 2 (this week) will be some PUBG Mobile fun.
I’m really excited to be hosting the show. It’s such a cool way to bring traditional sports lovers and esports fans together. Also, I love how many rugby fans are picking up a controller and entering competitive gaming for the first time, for the opportunity to play against their favourite player. I thought I’d share all 3 episodes from Week 1 with you here so you can catch up on the action. Best to watch them in sequence and re-live the fun we had last week:
