Animal Crossing New Horizons – the game that got me and many others through hard lock downs and COVID heartache in 2020. The game guaranteed that hours of my day would be chewed up running a cute little island planting flowers, eating peaches and talking to little animal critters who either annoyed the hell out of me or made me make ridiculous small child cooing noises. I was glued to my Nintendo Switch as were many others.
Here’s a quick post if you’re new to the game to better understand what it was all about:
All your Animal Crossing New Horizons newbie questions answered
Animal Crossing New Horizons spawned a host of content that had people hooked. From incredibly designed islands that mimicked real world locations to a talk show that happened live in game – Animal Crossing was arguably one of 2020’s biggest gaming successes. Oh, if you want more information on that talk show, which was created and done by a Star Wars writer, it is called Animal Talking with Gary Whitta, he ran the whole thing in the game and had guests like Elijah Wood come visit his island and chat to him. It was joyful.
Continuing the joy, popular make up brand ColourPop Cosmetics has announced a collab with Animal Crossing, bringing the beauty of island living to your make up. The collection is not only adorable but offers up a host of options no matter your skin tone or preferences.
There are four palettes which are specific to characters and specific game features. You can get a Nook Inc Palette in mint greens and browns, a Lebelle of the Ball palette which is purple focused, the What a Hoot palette keeps it neutral and sparkly while the 5 Star Island palette incorporates some pastel finishes.
The collection isn’t only limited to the palettes though. There are also a host of lip tint duos named Fruit Basket, Fruit Roots and Pick of the Bunch. There are also two blushes with a cute flower in the middle of the peachy and pink pigments respectively. These are called Flower Power and Flower Tender.
There is a Glitter gel to go full glam. The inspiration behind the gel is the bells you spend your time on the island collecting and it is called Bellionaire Glitterally Obsessed. Finally there is a Super Shock Shadow called Balloon Pop Super Shock Shadow.
All the items are packaged in Animal Crossing packaging that adds to the level of cute. Unfortunately ColoupPop Cosmetics is not available in South Africa. So if your Animal Crossing make up needs are so strong that you absolutely cannot go without, I’d suggest taking a look at this blog post from MishInformed which walks you through importing and shipping the items yourself.
The entire collection will launch at Ulta stores on 14 February. I’m not sure if Ulta will ship to South Africa.
