The Wonder Woman franchise is special to me. She was the first woman I saw in comics and geek culture that made me go “ooh I can do this too.” I also feel really strongly that the first Wonder Woman movie we saw, in 2017, was such a positive step forward for female led narrative in action stories. While not the first, it was definitely one that helped push this idea forward.
But skip all of that for a minute. The 2017 Wonder Woman movie was a biggie for me. I attended the premier with a bunch of friends. At the end of the premier one of these friends, and I, finally admitted to one another that we wanted to be “more than friends.” That friend was my Player 2, who I’ve now been with for three and a half years. Obviously it means the movie has a special place in my heart. After working on DC FanDome earlier this year, I was beyond hyped for the new Wonder Woman movie. With the pandemic though, I really wasn’t sure if we’d see it on the big screens.
WONDER WOMAN 1984 will be in cinemas on 16 December.
That’s right! The new movie that sees Gal Gadot take the lead with writer director Patty Jenkins, will be in cinemas on 16 December. This will be the one and only time since the Pandemic hit that I’ll go to the movies on opening night. I cannot wait! The story is set in the 1980s and Wonder Woman needs to face off against Max Lord and The Cheetah. The cast is one of strong and successful women and men who I think will do their best to stay true to the comic book character we love.
Hans Zimmer is composing the music. I love him. I listen to most of his work while I’m working because it inspires and calms me at the same time. While the original music composition will likely have those epic lead ups and soft moments, I’m really hoping he takes some inspiration from the 80s as well!
Win a WONDER WOMAN 1984 Hamper
The always rad crew at Warner Bros. Entertainment South Africa have hooked me up with two WONDER WOMAN 1984 hampers to give away. There are SO many items included from awesome T-shirts to collectable pins… the picture above shows you everything you’ll be getting if you win.
I’ve devised a sneaky little plan to put together the most epic 80s playlist, to get us ready for the release of the movie. Every entry will be added so make sure you add the playlist on either Apple Music or Spotify.
How to win?
Follow these GLEAM steps and you’ll be in line to win the hamper. I’ll draw two winners on Friday 11 December! Don’t forget to follow the playlists, pretty sure we’ll have some rad music in the mix. Good luck:
