The Maybelline limited edition Marvel make-up collection dropped a few weeks ago in South Africa and is now on shelves. I actually saw the teaser for this months ago on the Maybelline Instagram account and low key got super excited.

By now you hopefully know me well enough to know that I’m head over heels for main stream brands doing geeky collabs and this one was RIGHT up my alley. The awesome folks at Maybelline even sent me a press kit with ALL the goodies when the collection dropped:
The Marvel collab
Maybelline partnered with Marvel to celebrate the MCU and some of our favourite super heroes. You’ll immediately recognise the artwork of Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Spider Man, Black Panther and Black Widow. The products all have some sort of red, silver or gold metallic addition to their packaging which I really loved. You’ll see the famous red and white Marvel logo on most as well and then symbols for each of the heroes is included. The collab has three different products including a mascara, lipsticks and concealer options.
The Marvel x Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Lipsticks
The lipsticks use 5 extremely well known shades already featured in the main line: Pioneer, Ruler, Lover, Versatile and Groundbreaker. The shades are now just packaged with the Marvel artwork. I’d never used anything from the Matte Ink line before this and I was extremely impressed. The colours are super saturated and they LAST. This was a biggie for me – you can apply in the morning and by 3pm your lipstick needs minimal touch ups.
The Instant Age Rewind Eraser
There are a host of concealers in the collab that include the trademark Marvel branding. There are a host of shades for your skin tone and each includes a micro corrector applicator. I still have some concealer available so the moment it is finished I’ll try these out. But I’m very intrigued based on how amazing the lipsticks are.
Maybelline x Marvel Colossal Mascara
This mascara costs less than R200 and is divine. I’ve always been a fan of Maybelline mascaras. They’re extremely affordable but also just work so damn well and last forever. Everything you expect from their mascara will be delivered but the perk is that you have a gorgeous gold product that will make you feel like a superhero every time you open it.

The Maybelline x Marvel collection is available at Dischem or via Superbalist. The pricing is really competitive and you’re basically just buying rad packaging on top of the usual Maybelline product. I’m in love with this collection. Mainly because the geek in me is satiated but also because the make-up is so damn good. I cannot sing the praises of those matte lipsticks or mascara enough. They just knock much more expensive offerings right out the park.
