Coachella is currently on the go in the States and famed designer for Moschino, Jeremy Scott, decided to use it to drop his latest fashion collection: a SIMS wardrobe for real life. The designer used his Palm Springs Desert Party to launch the SIMS inspired clothing line and, I’m a little bit obsessed by it.
It’s being called a Sims capsule collection and is inspired by the video game. You know the one, where we get to create our ideal little person, manage their life, build their career and try control their social lives. In the Sims you have a host of funky fashion items to dress up or dress down your Sim. Following on that trend, Scott and Moschino produced a collection of more than 30 items which are all meant to encapsulate the video game.
Basically, you’re looking at a host of T-Shirts, hoodies, pants, dresses and even phone cases that feature pixelated prints. I’ve tried to share as much as I can from what I’ve found online. The phone case is all sorts of adorable and if I had the moola I’d probably hunt this one down and try buy it:
Finding this in South Africa might be a problem. I’m not exactly a fashion queen so I could be completely wrong here (and if I am PLEASE correct me in the comments) but the only Moschino items I’ve been able to source locally are the pieces included in the Moschino x H&M collab. Popular South African YouTuber Nadia Jafta tends to rock Moschino a lot but it seems it is mainly items from that H&M collab. So I’m not even sure if there is a local store or if Moschino will even ship here.
Regardless, the entire Sims capsule collection will roll out to the various Moschino stores and be available online. The pixelated items are cute AF but there is also a nod to the Plumbob symbol (you know that diamond above your Sims’ head). There’s the most adorable swim suit emblazoned with it and you can also get a pair of earrings (I think they look kind of meh to be honest, so I don’t feel like I’d be buying those). There is also a cute umbrella. While I have no use for the umbrella I’d definitely love the costume.
Jeremy Scott did release a statement around the Sims collection. Here’s what he had to say:
“I love the idea of being able to imagine, design, and bring to life a world of individual personas with the Sims universe. That concept emulates what I get to do for each collection at Moschino as I create a fantasy universe of spectacular storylines and characters.”
I like that. It’s a rad link up and I dig that the collection might convince more people to play the game. I also think some of these clothes are really funky. If I find out about South African availability I’ll be sure to let you know!
