What we think you should know:
Straight out the box you’re going to be impressed with the Xioami Redmi Note 2. Yes, it is a bit plasticky. Yes, you need to insert the battery. But it does feel much more solid in your hand then some of the 4 grand smartphones I’ve played with recently. I also think it looks better to be honest. At 5.5″ it is a big phone but it has a sleek design that allows it to sit comfortably in hand.
It actually comes in a host of funky colours but I received a grey type design. It still looked classy and I was impressed.
Using the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is much like any other Android smartphone. It had the Google set ready to go and you’ll find navigating it rather simple. I liked that it let you choose your theme in set up. The display is really great quality for such a cheap phone. It also takes incredible selfies.
I thought the camera was really good!
In every day use it heats up a bit which is annoying and it is slow when you overload it with apps and three email accounts. But seriously at that price point? It is miles ahead of the competition. It’s about time we finally got a phone that isn’t only affordable but also punches above the price point.
It’s the perfect work phone or phablet for someone who aims to be the CEO in a few months. I also think it would be an ideal first phone for little ones. It’s cheap enough that you aren’t going to cringe when they smash the screen but smart enough to keep them happy for at least two years, so you won’t need to drop any more cash on a phone.
If the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 can come in at this price other manufacturers are going to have to up their game.
So rad
- The price and the camera!
Makes us sad
- It is a bit slow and heats up with hectic use
