It’s no secret that I’m still on the fence when it comes to Wearable Tech. I’m yet to find one that really adds value to my life. I can honestly say that my favourite one so far is Samsung’s Gear Fit. I’m not a runner, cycler or fitness fanatic but I did become more conscious about my daily exercise routine when I started wearing this little beauty.
I liked how Samsung has combined a fitness band with a smart watch and shared my thoughts on it when I compared the S5 to the Z2. While I won’t be running out to go get one (and word of caution if you see me running anywhere best you start too, no doubt I’m running from something, else I try avoid this physical activity at all costs) I can confidently say that Samsung’s Gear Fit is, aesthetically, the best piece of Wearable Tech yet.
As a woman, I found the Samsung Gear bulky and very masculine to wear. Other fitness bands are great for exercise but their thick rubber band quality doesn’t translate well if you’re hitting after work cocktails with the girls. The Gear Fit is slimmer and the screen allows for a host of brightly coloured abstract backgrounds that add an element of fun and funk. It can easily cross over from being worn while exercising (or riding a horse, as I do), to work and off to an evening function without ever looking out of place:
There is another reason that the Samsung Gear Fit is the most stylish piece of wearable tech available right now and it has to do with clever partnerships forged by the electronic brand. Realising that women want functional to merge with fashion, Samsung has paired up with two incredible designers to produce wrist bands for the Gear Fit.
Kirkwood, a British footwear designer and Moschino are both designing bands for the Gear Fit so you won’t be limited to the usual black or lumo colours. My favourite are the Moschino designs, which incorporate the eccentric and fun designs synonymous with the luxury Italian fashion house. I like that Samsung added a bit of high fashion personalisation here. I hope other wearable tech follows suit.
