About Me

Hello. I’m Sam “Tech Girl” Wright, I mainly work in esports so you’ve likely seen me desk hosting Counter-Strike events. I was one of the hosts for the Blast TV Paris Major, I’ve worked as an interviewer for ESL Challenger and you’ve probably also seen me desk host and interview for various PUBG competitions. I’ve done a lot of esports stuff. I also host a podcast about gaming and Esports called Tech Girl Talks and sometimes I add things to this blog. A little late on the 2024 recap post. Last year I: A little late on the 2024 recap post. Last year I: 💫 Desk hosted the Perfect World Shanghai Major... as well as 2 BLAST Premier Group Stages, IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne. Holy hell, looking back I’m in AWE ✨ Bought a house. Adulting ON POINT. 💫 Was pushed to make my own content, which led to starting Feed The Trolls, a podcast series which has pushed & motivated me like no other. I did a bunch of other Counter-Strike series as well. I worry this might sound a bit bitter, but here goes: at least once a year for the past 4 years I’ve heard comments from the South African Gaming scene (mainly brands and agencies) about how I’m “boring”, “irrelevant”, “old news”.. and it always got to me. It didn’t matter if I was working internationally... I was so fixated on silly industry gossip. In 2024 I focused solely on my own hustle. I aimed way higher than a few local influencer gigs and I reached goals I never thought I could (and that only one other South African in this space has - Hi Quickshot). I went all in on CS, which I was discouraged to do for so long. It’s tough but damn I’m glad I did. But I still let those voices get into my head, now at a much larger scale. I was filled with anxiety and panic attacks about not getting more work and not being good enough. Here’s what I want for 2025: ☑️Obviously I want to work more in CS and my DREAM would be to finally get the nod to desk host or interview in playoffs in one of the arenas/stadiums (for Shanghai we were remote so doesn’t feel like I reached that milestone). ✔ I want to level up my own content and keep creating my way. ☑️ I’ve spent the last 6 or 7 years trying to “prove myself”. Instead of celebrating every milestone it was never enough in my brain. I needed to do more. In 2025 I want to celebrate. I’ve done some rad shit and I need to be more in the moment, appreciate that versus thinking it isn’t enough. If you made it all the way here GG! Here’s to a year where we don’t sweat the small stuff. Right soppy emotional BS done. Let’s get to work.

If you’re looking to buy a new device, upgrade o If you’re looking to buy a new device, upgrade or get hands on with a host of tech I can personally vouch for the @mtnza Experience Centre in Morningside. 📋Fully paperless environment ✅self service kiosks if you know what you’re looking for 📱great device packages, accessories & options to really test & try before you buy. 🎮 I found wait times next to none but if you do have to wait there are so many experience zones to test out and you can even play games while waiting!! 💻 Staff are fully mobile so you can get helped while enjoying a cup of coffee, testing out smart home tech or with a controller in hand. Go check out the Centre. It’s open through the festive period (but check hours during the various public holidays). 🐾 Dogs aren’t allowed in but Koji did hang outside waiting for me to get my new phone 😂

This one is for the ladies. I work in front of c This one is for the ladies. I work in front of camera sometimes for 8 to 12 hours at a time. I’m already self conscious about my body… now throw in the inevitable bloating (it happens!) and I become so uncomfortable & concerned about what I look like. I’ve tried ALL the things you can buy off shelf. I’ve avoided drinking water (terrible idea by the way). After posting about the struggle @kikovitals send me their debloat + gut glow supplements. You pop two tabs when you feel your tummy swelling and I can confirm - they work like a bomb ! 💣 I keep them in my bag in studio & just knowing how well they work gives me confidence because I have one less thing to worry about. I’ve also been using the prebiotic + probiotic to encourage a healthy gut. I eat pretty badly when on the road for work (sometimes getting fibre in is impossible with the food on offer). I’m not sure if this 1 has helped me but my skin is GLOWING & that’s unusual when I’m spending countless days in full makeup for work. So I’ll take it. Definitely can recommend both of these products.
