I wouldn’t call myself a Basketball fan but I am 100% a “please give me something fun and fluffy to save me from real life” fan. Which is why SPACE JAM is LIFE right now. The original movie saw Michael Jordan join the Looney Tunes characters in an epic cross over adventure. My brother had this 4 box VHS set of Looney Tunes cartoons so we were Bugs Bunny’d overdosed from a young age. SPACE JAM was so epic and then they went and announced a brand new movie. The new SPACE JAM movie sees LeBron James jumping into the action and I think it will be tons of fun with Don Cheadle playing the villain. I need something fun and this movie looks like all of that and a bag of chips. Also, you know I’m a fan of collaborations and the new SPACE JAM movie has all of the cool collabs. I thought I’d share some of these with you because they are pretty damn epic.
These XBox Controllers
Xbox dropped a host of SPACE JAM controllers to tie in with the movie and when I saw that orange and light blue one my inner nerd screeched a little bit. I’m obsessed with it and, if I’m honest, all three are divine. I love the colour contrasts and styles. Plus they just look like FUN. Unfortunately no word on whether we can expect these in South Africa but a girl can dream right?
ALL the Converse
If you love to wear your geek on your sleeve then the Converse x Space Jam: A New Legacy collab is one you’ll love. There’s that sexy Chuck Taylor All Stars Looney Tunes sneaker and then a host of funky additions – from a Lola Bunny T to a really rad backpack as well. I’m a bit obsessed with the Lola sneakers:
The backpack and sneakers are available locally as are select T-shirts, Hoodies and even shorts. Pricing retails from about R600 for a shirt to around R2000 for a hoodie or pair of sneakers. You’ll likely be able to find the items in store or you can just shop for them right here online.
There’s even a video game – but it isn’t what you think
If you want even more of a SPACE JAM fix, Space Jam: A New Legacy even has a video game. Though it isn’t basketball. Instead, Space Jam: A New Legacy The Game is an old school arcade type fighter game that you’ll love. The game itself was designed around ideas sent in by fans and it is tons of fun. I absolutely love the old school art used as well. The game is available for XBox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
Also, good news – cinemas are opening up in South Africa this Friday and Space Jam: A New Legacy will release as well. So while the collabs are rad, the movie should add to the fun. YES!
