When I was in New York City I got to pop past Think Geek. It is this incredible store filled with geeky things but some of the Geek Girl Garments really caught my attention. Specifically, there was this incredible Star Trek shirt that you could easily pull off at work. It took all my self control to stop myself from buying it…. and I still regret that decision:
I love feeding my inner geek but there are only so many T-Shirts you can buy and, also, only so many times you can get away with tossing one on with a fancy jacket for work. I’m constantly on the search for Geek Girl Garments that I’d easily be able to wear at work. My friend Bailey over at Vanilla Blonde recently showcased the most gorgeous Emoji dress. She purchased it from a store in Cape Town called Catwalk International. Which got me so excited because that means we have some Geek Girl outfits right here in South Africa. It is one size fits all and was a bit big for Bailey, which works out perfectly because she is pregnant now BUT for a girl like me it is ideal because I have a bit of a bum on me.
How gorgeous is this dress?
Bailey’s photos are courtesy of the incredible Tegan Smith btw.
Bailey’s dress inspired me to look for a few more geeky girl garments that I could pull off at work but could also purchase locally. Youneek has this incredible burnt lace top. You could pair this with a high waisted skirt or black pants and heels to get away with it in the office (you can find it here and it retails for about R220):
I also found this other online store called That’s Geek. These Avengers leggings are so funky but still sleek enough to get away with in the office. They are a bit pricey at just over R700 because they are imported but black leggings are a wardrobe staple right? (Look at me trying to justify the spend):
And then, finally, completely NOT work appropriate but one of my Snapchat friends send me a picture of her wearing this Pikachu onesie from Primark and I decided that this is a must have for any closet. Good news – you can get one at Dark Carnival here in South Africa. This could explain why I’m single…..
