What we think you should know:
There’s something all South Africans can agree on: load shedding sucks. While no power during the day is a bit of a blessing in disguise because work grinds to a halt, arriving home to darkness is no fun at all. No dinner, no coffee and no Big Bang Theory. While I can’t help you with the coffee I can help you by recommending the Lonovo YOGA Tablet 2 Pro.
It’s no secret that I’m not a fan of tablets. I see no use in them besides being a bigger phone to lug around. Laptops are getting thinner and lighter every year, tablets are, for the most part, defunct. When I took the Lenovo YOGA Tablet 2 Pro out the box the clunky piece on the bottom peaked my interest immediately… what were they thinking?
Here’s why I love this Android tablet. Lenovo is trying something different. There’s a 2560*1440 IPS panel, Android 4.4 OS and a Quad Core 1.86GHZ. The Lenovo YOGA Tablet 2 Pro also has 2.1 Dolby surround sound and a Projector. I’ll give you a minute to fix your makeup after you smudged it reading that. The Lenovo yoga tablet 2 Pro has a projector.
Now granted the result is an unappealing lump at the bottom of the tablet but every form of functionality has been squeezed into that lump, including strapping on some high quality speakers and a neatly packaged and hidden stand that serves to raise the projector and balance the tablet in general use instead of having to use your good old fashioned knees.
The YOGA 2 Pro will last you through a good few many load sheds before running dry, but be warned using the projector will slice that battery life quicker than a beauty blogger takes to apply her eye shadow.
However there was something special about curling up by candle light with a glass of wine while I used the projector to watch some Vikings and Game of Thrones on a wall twice the size of my own TV screen.
This is an Android tablet I actually want. Not to use to pretend to do important work while I’m actually playing Flappy Bird. I want the Lenova YOGA Tablet 2 Pro because it is the first one I’ve come across that actually does something new and its only differentiating factor is not because it is bigger than X or smaller than Y.
Watching Game of Thrones projected on my ceiling while enjoying a glass of wine in the candlelight is a special kind of awesome.
So rad:
- The projector
Makes us sad:
- It’s rather big to travel with
