5 Mother’s Day gadget gifts for less than R1000

It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday and your mom definitely deserves to be spoilt. We’re sharing 5 of our favourite local gadgeting gifts that are sure to make your mom smile and also keep your purse happy. All of these gorgeous goodies are available in South Africa and, if you order online, can likely be delivered to you before the 11th of May. So here they are, Tech Girl’s 5 Mother’s Day gadget gifts for less than R1000:

1. Navajo’s Tuff-Luv Embrace Plus Material Case cover for Kindle Touch/Paperwhite

md2

We love this book style case which has been handmade in Navajo material. The patterns are just gorgeous but, if your mom is a little bit more reserved, this stylish case is also available in faux leather or natural hemp. We also dig how you’re able to change the views and store pens or a stylus. If your mom loves reading and takes her Kindle where ever she goes this is the perfect Mother’s Day gift. The case will ensure her beloved reading companion is free of nicks and scratches when stored in her handbag. It’s R349 at The Rocket Shop.

2. Body Glove Energy Stick

md1

Everyone needs a portable charger. We love this one from Body Glove because it resembles a slightly bigger lipstick and will fit snuggly in your mom’s handbag without taking too much space away from her other essentials. The 3000 mAh energy stick offers a stand by time of 600 hours and a charge time of 3 to 4 hours. It’s also available in a variety of fun colours and comes with a 1 year warranty. You can get your mom one at Gammatek for roughly R400.

3. Crystal Wish Flower

md3

Okay, so technically it isn’t a “gadget”, but it’s so adorable and pretty we couldn’t NOT include the Crystal Wish Flower. It’s a nifty concept, your mom will receive a pack consisting of your crystal growing tablet, a packet of crystal powder, growing bottle, stilling stick, Cork with LED Module, AG13 Button Cells for the LED Module and an instruction booklet. She follows the instructions and within 24 hours her Crystal wish flower will grow and eventually create a beautiful crystal garden which will shine brightly in the evenings. This is such a pretty gift and costs only R190 at Yuppie Gadgets.

4. Wireless Wipes

md4

Our favourite go to gadget accessory will be your mom’s too. She’s raised kids who’ve come in with grubby faces and dirty nails after making mud cakes the entire day, so the likelihood is she is well aware of the dangers of germs. Wireless Wipes clean all your touchscreen gadgets without leaving ugly streaks or damaging the tech. You can purchase a hamper of three pouches of wipes. The pouches are re-sealable and one pouch can be used to clean a device for a month. There are three lovely scents to choose from. Alternatively gift her with a variety pack and she can have all the scents. A pack of 3 Wireless Wipes pouches cost R165 on their website.

5. Nokia Asha 503

md5

The Nokia Asha 503 is the little phone that could. If your mom is still having to restart her Blackberry by removing the battery maybe it is time to ease her into the world of real smartphones with this sexy little companion. The Asha 503 has just landed in South Africa and offers up a 5 MP Camera and the capability to snap and share immediately (so expect tons of Facebook tag updates after Mother’s Day tea). All the social media apps she loves are available on the 503 and it comes in a range of colours so make sure you match it to her favourite nail polish. The best bit though? The Nokia Asha 503 is only R999.

I'd love to chat to you some more.
