What we think you should know:
I had a chance to play around with the Sony Xperia Tablet Z and at first sight, all I thought was “ooh pretty, it’s all sleek and skinny” (I even got jealous at one stage that I couldn’t look like that). Then I remembered, we don’t always just buy things because of the way they look, now do we?
Once I started using it, I wasn’t too fond of the way the applications and widgets were set out (standard, but still a bit confusing) and it took me a while to figure out how to manoeuvre things around to be easily accessible to my personal taste, but I finally figured it out.
However, I was very impressed when the Android system automatically synced my Google Account with my other devices and all my downloaded apps started appearing on the Sony Xperia app list. Sounds lame? No, it saved me a good couple of hours of searching around the Google Play Store to download everything manually. Being a mother to a human and two dog children, time does not come easily to me so this made a good impression.
Many people think that a tablet is a waste of time and money, purely because it isn’t quite as mobile and easy to carry around like a phone during your everyday activities. The sleek (and quite sexy) design made me WANT to carry it around, and then I started thinking, this would be the most amazing device for festivals!
The camera is amazing and it comes standard with a neat photo editing app which will let you post your festival activities on the go. Should the random idiot spill his drink on you, your tablet will still be safe, thanks to the great designers at Sony making it waterproof!
Also, let us not forget about the dust factor and that the screen is super durable. A device being dust proof and strong is definitely a big bonus for me. I have many a time dropped my device out of my bag at a festival and it starts bugging out from the dust. I end up having to paying ridiculous amounts to get stuff fixed. No more!
The sound and picture quality of videos is also fantastic, given that I didn’t use headphones when watching / listening. Don’t you absolutely hate when you make a video, get excited to watch it but when you do all you hear is something that sounds similar to a broken blender? You won’t have that problem with the Xperia Tablet Z. Having the option of listening to music with the Sony Wireless headphones, means you don’t have to carry your tablet around listening to your tunes while messing about the house.
It’s sexy, it’s strong and it’s not going to cost you an extra bond on your house… You don’t have to take my word for it, but honestly, I would… This one seems to be a keeper!
So rad:
- Waterproof, Dust proof and durable
- Android Syncing with Google Playstore
- Excellent photos with editing software standard
- Excellent video and sound quality
Makes us sad:
- Sensitivity of the screen got a bit annoying, having to double tap some icons a few times before responding
- Layout of apps & widgets were a bit confusing and difficult to get used to
