And no, the world record isn’t for being the biggest narcissist. Love em or hate em, we’ve all been guilty of snapping a selfie at one time or another. You know it has gotten serious when it becomes a legit word added to the dictionary (Oxford did that last year. Sellouts). They’re here to stay. So if you can’t beat ’em join ’em right?
Well, that was Samsung’s thinking at least. This weekend the mobile phone brand plans to break the Guinness World Record to capture the highest number of selfies taken within 24 hours… and it is happening in South Africa (considering our football team, I’m keen to support anything that makes us a winner at this point). It makes sense considering THAT selfie that broke Twitter was taken with a Samsung:

So if you want to take part in the record breaking attempt you need to head to the Canal Walk Food Court (entrance 10) in Cape Town or the Sandton City Checkers Court (Entrance 4) in Johannesburg tomorrow (31 January). The attempt kicks off at 9am. So you can take a selfie and break a world record!
And what selfie post would be complete without a shout out to the queen of selfies herself, Kim Kardashian?

Kim recently filmed a Superbowl commercial for T Mobile. A piece was aired on an American talk show this week and it is all kinds of hilarious. Hey, at least the girl can poke fun at herself right? #KimsDataStash
Update: Samsung have claimed the world record after 12 598 selfies were taken.
