A new partner enters the Tech Girl orbit

Welcome to Vox Gaming!

THIS POST WAS WRITTEN IN COLLABORATION WITH VOX GAMING

I put out a tweet asking how best to announce a new long term partnership and apparently a “from the heart write up” is what you want… so that’s what you’ll get.

Long term partnerships are hard to come by for content creators in South Africa. I’ve been extremely lucky to work with Logitech G for the last two years and recently confirmed to extend that partnership for a third. But other than them, I’ve turned down a lot of the offers that have come my way. However, I now have a new long term partner and I’m really excited to welcome them to our little Tech Girl community.

Introducing Vox Gaming

I’m sharing some behind the scenes shots of a filming day Vox & I had recently, working on things to come!

Vox Gaming is a new offering under the Vox umbrella (they’re an ISP, if you didn’t know) that aims to cater to the specific needs of gamers around South Africa. This is a bit more than just internet. The idea is to create tailored gaming offers and also innovate in the space. Over and above the usual offerings, Vox Gaming is planning to make hardware more accessible and affordable, help improve various aspects of gaming online and content creation and a bunch of other stuff we have in the works.

So why did I decide to partner with Vox Gaming?

Let’s be honest, ISPs are always a rough one. I was dubious coming in because I’ve dealt with my fair share of connection issues in my time (everyone remembers my horrific fibre provider from my streams a few years back). The thing is, this partnership isn’t about selling you internet. One of my biggest struggles at the moment is wrapping my head around the disparity we have in South Africa between those connected and those not. Data is expensive, internet access isn’t readily available to everyone and a lot of gamers lose out because they just can’t get online. Because esports is ultimately my bread and butter, these concerns are amplified when we take a look at competitive gaming.

I sat down with so many members of the Vox Gaming team to discuss these issues and they were quick to respond with new ideas that could help get more people gaming. They opened their offices to me and let me spitball crazy ideas to just help gamers… a lot of which are already in the works (these folks are quick fast!).

What this means moving forward

I want to see more gamers connected.

I want to do more to educate South Africans on the positive aspects of gaming.

I want to make a positive change to the gaming space in my home country.

I want my community to benefit from the partnerships I enter into.

After months of discussions and thinking this through, I really do believe Vox Gaming can give me the resources I need to get some mad concepts off the ground and activate them. I’m not in this partnership to sell you an internet connection (but if you do want one, be sure to find some of the up and coming streamers and creators that are part of the Vox ambassador programme and use their affiliate code to help them earn). I’m here to try make a positive difference to gamers in South Africa, get controllers, mice and keyboards in more hands and hopefully do something rad for local gaming along the way. Also, let’s not sugar coat it, being able to cover the costs of content creation and connectivity helps me do more. I’ve always been honest about this.

From the heart enough?

I’m going to wrap this up now because I always find announcement stuff like this a bit weird. I want to get to the doing bit. I’m excited to welcome Vox Gaming to our Tech Girl community. I’ll be sharing a bunch of stuff with you as we go. There are some fun ideas in the works and a bunch of rad ways for you to play as well. For now, if you want to have a good laugh be sure to follow Vox Gaming on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok – I played the fool a bit for them and you’ll enjoy chuckling at me, no doubt.

Watch this space – we’ve got a lot on the way!

Oooh… one last thing, nothing changes here. Logitech G is still in the crew, we’re just rolling three deep now. I’m also primary an esports broadcaster and that won’t change any time soon. So same same but different.

I'd love to chat to you some more.
