If you’ve ever considered yourself a potential fighting games shout caster then do I have the perfect opportunity for you!
The Ultimate Gaming Championships team has put together this impressive Shoutcasting 101 course that I think will be ideal for anyone interested in fighting games and flexing their commentating muscles. UGC is offering up an online based interactive workshop and competition. The workshop is meant to help aspiring commentators take their shoutcasting to the new level, with the overall goal of the workshop to ultimately produce 2 new casters who can jump into fighting games commentary.
Workshop break down
Two commentators who enter will be chosen to participate in a bootcamp. In the first week of the bootcamp you’ll learn with UGC commentators Gasmasky and Mr.Cholatezzz. You’ll study technique and get assistance in identifying your own unique style of commentating. You’ll do mock streams and a few other activities to help you improve. In week two you’ll get one on one time with some casters in South Africa who have done the most. You’ll get insight from Thulani “Thulz” Sishi who made the move from competitive player to caster. Snare, one of the most diverse casters in South Africa will also share his insight. I’ve also committed my time to give you some insight into my own experiences and hopefully help take the participants to the next level. In week 3, the casters will stream live and get insight as you work through a host of exhibition matches. Finally, you’ll get the opportunity, in week 4, to cast a UGC Online Tournament!
How to enter:
You’ll need to visit the UGC site and download the materials made available. You’ll need to film a video (phone video is fine) showing your casting skills. You’ll need to introduce yourself, cast the set of matches supplied and do a stream outro. Then you’ll need to email your application to UGC. You will need a working PC or laptop, be over the age of 18 and have an internet connection that can handle discord with video for a minimum of 4 hours. Those selected to participate will also receive a casters bundle to keep which includes a Logitech G G733 headset, a Logitech C922 webcam, an AOC G2 Gaming monitor, commentators’ certificate and the chance to be the featured hosts and casters for Rumble in the Jungle.
This is such an incredible opportunity and is going to push your commentating to the next level! I look forward to seeing all the entries. Good luck!
