geek fridge magnets

Locally made geek fridge magnets – the ideal gift!

I love finding funky geek merchandise online. I ESPECIALLY love finding funky SOUTH AFRICAN geek merchandise. I recently was introduced to the WJ Collection by Jacqueline, a long time supporter of Tech Girl. She always interacts on social and reads the blog, so imagine my surprise when I found out that she is actually part of the brains behind the WJ Collection. This is a small local Johannesburg based business that specialises in using natural re-crafted materials such as reclaimed wood, cement and metallic finishes. They have a range of incredible goods that they sell at various markets. Everything from necklaces and crockery to gorgeous hand crafted home items.

But the reason I’m blogging about this? Their rad geek fridge magnets. I absolutely love the range of magnets they do and think you will too. They’re also REALLY well priced. When you purchase a set the cement magnets come in a Hessian draw string bag with a cute card attached. I love the unique cement finish and they’re surprisingly light in hand so no need to worry about them sliding off your fridge and smashing. Here’s my favourites:

Star Wars magnets

The Star Wars inspired magnets are incredible. Take a look at that Millennium Falcon and the detail on it? Amazing. You get a selection of Darth Vadars and the Falcon for R100.

lego magnets

Everything is awesome! The Lego magnets are funky and fun. You get a selection of bricks and lego men in a R100 bag.

superhero magnets

The superheroes collection also has incredible detail (yes, that is a Captain America shield). This little bag costs R80.

hello kitty magnets

If you’re a Hello Kitty fan, this R100 bag is perfect. I already have the perfect person to gift this one to this year!

I think these are such incredible items, well priced and it is very obvious that each product has been made with so much love and thought. All the items are handmade so you always get something bespoke. Also, because the holiday season is just around the corner they have another little something I had to share with you. This item costs only R50 and it is the PERFECT stocking filler.

board game

How cute? The bag becomes the board and you can play 0s and Xs with the cute painted pebbles inside. My inner gamer approves! If you want to get your hands on some of these goodies then head on over to the WJ Collection Facebook page. Not only will you feed your inner geek but you’ll also be supporting a local small business. Winning on all accounts!

Disclosure: Jacqueline gifted me with these geek fridge magnets as she has been supporting the blog for some time. I was utterly blown away by how rad they were and decided they deserved a blog post because everyone needs to get their hands on these cute goodies!

I'd love to chat to you some more.

I usually send out a weekly mailer with a recap of blog posts but also some personal anecdotes. If you want to know about competitions or just catch up in a more personal setting then you might like to receive the mailer.
