If you have been hiding under a rock, or you have been living in the stone age thanks to Far Cry Primal, then you have missed the latest release, Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 (PvZ GW2, because that name is way too long). The game is the second (obviously) instalment in the series and has more plants, zombies, and brains than ever before. If you have ever played PvZ on your mobile device, you need to know that these two games are very different. Sure, they rely on the same plants and zombies going at it at each other for no apparent reason, but Garden Warfare 2 is all about massive all-out warfare against the two teams. You will take on the role of one of the plants or zombies, and see to it that the zombies never un-live to see another day, and the plants have planted their last pot plant.
The game has a huge roster of playable characters, some better than others, but they all have their own strengths and weaknesses. I am here today to give you a low-down on some of my favorite ones, because I have played the game, and I am completely obsessed with it.
Plants
Rose
Rose might look like an innocent, um rose, but she is kick ass. She basically had a vision that the zombies would one day take over the world, which is kind of happening right now, so she is a bit late. She has traveled through time to help fight off the zombie army and end the war. Rose relies on the magic of time, and the ability to turn zombies into goats, yes goats.
Kernal Corn
We all have that crazy uncle who was in some sort of war back in the day, Kernel Corn is that uncle, but a plant. Kernel Corn was apparently in the previous war, although no one really can account for his position, he claims he was. Kernel Corn has two Cob Busters which he uses to mow down the zombies, he can also do a pretty sick back flip, even though he is like on hundred years old – I am not judging.
Sunflower
I was a hippie in my last life so I can somewhat relate to this ball sunshine flower thing. Sunflower might look under powered, but he (or she) is the most important plant for any group of plants ready to take on the zombie base and squash them once and for all. The sunflower is basically the healer of the group, so when you are low on health, seek them out. If you cannot find one, then only blame yourself for not pushing your team to choose one.
Citron
Citron is a citrus, if you have not caught on yet. He has the ability to transform into a ball and knock all those ugly zombies down like 10-pin bowling. He arrived on his gigantic spaceship which is shaped like a…wait for it….orange. Citrus is pretty unique, because nothing really rhymes with orange.
Zombies
Imp and his Z-Mech
So when you look at Imp, he looks rather tiny, like a little cockroach that you can just squash with your heel, he however has some rather powerful abilities. Imp can gt into mechs, all sorts of them actually. There is a giant prawn mech, and even one shaped like a traffic cone, because why not? He then uses missiles and laser beams to destroy any plant in his way. Feel like you should not have called him a cockroach? Well good!
Captain Deadbeard
Captain Deadbeard likes long walks on the beach and treasure hunting. In his free time he likes to stand at a distance and shoot unsuspecting plants in the….roots? Although he might look like he cannot run fast due to his peg leg and all, it is true, he sucks at escaping from a burning building.
Super Brainz
Super Brainz might look like some weird guy who is strangely obsessed with super powers, but unlike that guy living in his mom’s basement eating fruit loops out of his beard from the day before, Super Brainz actually has powers, and a life. He is a hardcore up-close character that really beats the living daylights out of anyone who gets in his way, he also has perfect hair.
All-Star
The All-Star might look like some dumb jock that you had a crush on in high school, that has undergone severe zombie mutations, but he probably is better off than that said jock anyway. The All-Star uses his mini-gun to mow down plants that stand in his way. He also relies on a charge which will send them flying in the air, but not before killing them. The All-Star is hardcore, and although he looks dumb, he is smarter than you think, just don’t mention the Superbowl, he will go cray!
So there you have my favourite characters, although there are tons more in the game which is out today on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Who would you choose in the battle for Zomburbia?
