After years of sitting in marketing meetings and chatting to South African brand representatives, marketing agencies, sports management companies and marketing managers – I’ve heard the same questions asked time and time again. I’ve also seen the same mistakes made time and time again. With this in mind I decided to create a series of podcast episodes to discuss the business of gaming and esports in South Africa. I found a host of industry veterans and experts to share the knowledge and insight on topics that come up time and again. From how to select a gaming specialist consultancy to the best way to work with gaming influencers. This series covers all the questions you might have.
It is a pretty specific series and with that in mind it is predominantly aimed at brands, agencies and marketing professionals. In South Africa so many are misinformed and uneducated. I’m hoping this series will shed some light on the industry as a whole both globally and locally. For an idea of what to expect – there are five episodes in total. Each episode’s run time is roughly 20 to 30 minutes so they’re easy enough to listen to or watch without you having to dedicate too much time to them.
Here is the episode breakdown:
- Ep 1 focuses on Gaming specialist consultancies with Barry Louzada from Mettlestate
- Ep 2 looks at the industry landscape and the gamers themselves with Kamza Mbatha.
- Ep 3 discusses tournament organisers, esports events and school leagues with Nicholas Holden from ACGL
- Ep 4 is a focus on gaming content creators, their worth and their international success with Thea Booysen, owner of Nixuh
- Ep 5 deep dives into production, events and entertainment value with Jonathan Bandli from Bad Weather Productions
There are a multitude of ways for you to listen or watch the content. Individual episodes are available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
