Telling the esport player’s story

For years I’ve felt like I sit in one of the most privileged positions in esports: I get to tell the player’s story. Whether through my work in broadcast either as a desk host, interviewer, casting or writing for Red Bull or my blog… I’m given this incredible opportunity to play conduit between the player and you. My job is to create a narrative that encourages you to invest and, my job, is to really see the true potential and beauty of someone’s unique story and how it pertains to esports. I’ve worked really hard to consistently perfect my craft and, while I still have such a long way to go, I’m so incredibly proud of what I’ve been able to achieve.

I’m also extremely proud of the stories I’ve been able to tell. I’ve had the privilege of sharing so many incredible player journeys and I’ll always be proud of my role in sharing their stories. This week I’m sharing another story. It’s the story of Mohamed “KingCJ0” Alioune Diop. King CJ0 is one of South Africa’s top FIFA players, who has now made the move to the USA and signed with top football club DC United. I interviewed him about how that signing happened, how he got into FIFA and how he is coping in college in the US, balancing both esports and studies. The full article is on Red Bull and one I’m extremely proud of:
