A few months ago my bedside lamp’s bulb blew. When was the last time you went to the store and purchased a light bulb? I can’t even remember. I had a supply of some but they’re used up. I constantly kept forgetting to go and repurchase stock so when the Astrum Eye Protecting LED Lamp landed at my doorstep I was excited. No need to run to the store right?
Out the box this is a sleek beauty. It has a very simplistic design and I loved the aluminium finishes. The white is always a worry because of dust and dirt but it looks really sleek. The silver finish also has the option to come in gold. The light is a very long rectangle with a thicker base.
The on button is flush on the lamp which I love. It is very sensitive as well so you only have to brush your hand across it to turn the lamp on and off. The design is elegant, minimalistic and really a thing of beauty. The best part? It bends! The Astrum Eye Protecting LED Lamp bends up to 180 degrees so you can set it up either to have some fun or to best suit your needs. It also holds its shape really well which I found impressive.
There are also no cables. Yup! No need for electricity (most of the time). The lamp is charged via a micro USB cable. You charge it for 3 hours and then it lasts up to 30 hours. I’ll be honest I didn’t check this, I’ve charged it once and it is still going strong. I mainly use it in the evening. I like the lack of cables because you can move it around and along with the bendable action it becomes extremely useful in a host of situations. The light has a variety of colour temperatures that you can jump between, so you have warm white, neutral white and cool white which is really great. It becomes a night light, reading light and room light all at once.
The light is super light as well and easy enough to move around or store if need be. But it is so pretty you’d likely want to to leave it out. Because of the colour changes it also offers up far more eye protection than your usual bulb. This is really funky and I love the aesthetics of the lamp. It also only costs around R500 which is my favourite part. It is a cheeky end of month purchase that will look sexy in your house and also mean you don’t have to run to get light bulbs at the store again!
