canon G7X Mark ii Review

My vlogging set up – some hardware and gear insight

This question comes out almost always when I’m out and about trying to film a vlog for my youtube channel:

What camera is that?

The truth is, the camera I use is pretty damn awesome. It is the Canon G7X Mark ii, which I purchased after watching Alfie discuss it on Pointless Blog vlogs. Influencer marketing at its best right? Haha. There are various reasons I dig this camera and I’ve written about them before. However, based off all the comments and love for this little beast I was asked to host a panel at ICON 2017 discussing said camera. I decided to shake things up a bit and rather than plug a camera for an hour we chose to chat about the gear needed to get into vlogging. Fellow Tech Girl and my friend Chani_ZA¬†joined me along with comedian Vittorio Leonardi who played host.

The conversation covered the gear we use as well as the gear you could use to get into vlogging. You won’t necessarily need to drop cash on the Canon G7X Mark ii to get started. The awesome folks at GameNation decided to film most of the panel and upload it to their YouTube channel in 3 parts. If you want to get some insight then be sure to check out the videos below (I’ve embedded them for easy viewing). Hopefully our chats will help you get vlogging. If you do start please let me know in the comments below, would love to check out your channel.

That’s cool, I’m currently using the Logitech C992 stream webcam to record my vlogs. My channel is called The Idiot’s Guide To Gaming, here’s the link

Thank you for this! I have an ok (inherited) camera and a 20 year old tripod which is good for now. For video editing I use Filmora which is a such a pleasure to use, but my PC is not coping with it so the one thing I am going to spend money is a new laptop. As soon as my editing is done I’ll come back an leave a link to my channel.

YES! Want to see the channel. Is Filmora easy enough to use? I’m on iMovie but looking to switch to Premier.

I’m so glad to hear! I have been so close to purchasing this camera and wrote on many forums for opinion and read countless articles/blogs reviews.
This has now persuaded me!! Awesome
