In four nights time I’m leaving South Africa… again. If you’re a regular reader of the blog you’ll know that I’ve been extremely busy this year. I’ve jam packed my weekends with work and have burnt the candle on all ends. There is no candle left. I pushed hard in 2016 but there was a reason:
I wanted to travel.
I love not being in one place. I love being in cities around the world on my own. I love being out of my comfort zone. So I worked my ass off this year to be in a position to travel now. I’ll head to London on Friday for a week. I’ll be back for a few days before heading off to Bali. I’ll return for the holidays but on Christmas night I’ll be getting on a plane to head to my favourite city in the world for New Years: New York.
I’m a last minute packer and rather disorganized.
I forget things. I don’t book transfers. I always leave something behind. However, as a girl travelling on my own the one thing I always make sure I have is a working smartphone with a data connection. All I need is Whats App because then I’m able to let my mom know I’m safe and stay in contact. Usually when I travel I use KnowRoaming. It is a little sticker on your simcard and an app that allows you to basically roam anywhere in the world at a fraction of the price of actual roaming.
I’ve used it in Argentina and China. In fact, in China it was the only way I could check my work email! It is a fantastic service and you can read more about it here.
While you might not want to justify the initial sim sticker price if you aren’t traveling huge amounts overseas… here’s why you should. KnowRoaming has free, unlimited international Whats App usage. What this means is that once you have registered your sim sticker you can use Whats App for free – whether it be messages, voice notes, calls or sending pictures. There is no catch and no fine print.
This is such a good offering that I had to share it because I’m going to be taking advantage of it during the next month and I’m hoping you’ll remember to get a KnowRoaming SIM Sticker next time you pop past the iStore. So much easier than trying to hunt down a sim card when you land at the airport!
