Peach is a new social media network created by the co-founder of Vine, that lets you easily share stuff with your friends in fun and creative ways. We decided to sink our teeth into the new network, see how it works, what we like and try to decide if it will be the next big thing.
What is Peach?
Peach is a refreshingly fun and simple way to keep up with friends and be yourself. Share tiny updates as you go through your day.
Easily share pictures, looping photos, videos, and links, along with GIFs, the weather, your current location, what you’re watching tonight, how many steps you walked today, and much more.
Why is Peach cool?
- remember Facebook’s poke? Well you can do the same but in a lot of different ways. And because of the novelty it’s not even annoying. The fact that there are mean responses doesn’t hurt either (Hiss and Quarantine).
- to encourage people to share and connect with one another, Peach prompts you by asking interesting questions (or type idea) like “What would you love to win a lifetime supply of?” This is a great way to learn more about your friends.
- magic words. This is what really differentiates Peach from other social media networks. Magic words allow you to post interesting things. Simply type one of the words below and tap the bubble to activate it.
- unlike Facebook, entire posts are not shown. You have to click through if you would like to read more, which gives you the power to choose what you want to look at.
- similar to snapchat where posts disappear after 24 hours, posts on Peach disappear after about 2 days which is great because sometimes you say some dumb stuff. But remember kids, screenshots don’t lie and are forever.
What don’t we like about Peach?
- at the moment it is only available for people who have iPhones. You can get the app here.
- because it is new, people are flocking to claim celeb names, so expect a lot of fake celebs.
In conclusion…
If you own an iPhone, download Peach now and get your original name without any weird numbers behind it, before someone else does. It’s a new social media network so there is a lot of hype around it, but I think it is here to stay. People are getting annoyed with ads and while a platform remains ad free, users will sign up. Also we like shiny new things.
Let’s check back in a year and see if my prediction about Peach comes true. If it does, for a nominal fee I will predict lotto numbers. If not, let’s just forget the last paragraph.
Ed’s note: SNAPCHAT FOR LIFE.
