I’m not big in to cooking. It takes too much time and I get bored. I’d prefer to just bang something in the microwave. When the Philips Airfryer arrived for me to try out I had my doubts. Out of the box it looks pretty intimidating. It is a big bugger. My kitchen is more like a corner than a kitchen (my friend Meg from The Counter would probably slit her wrists if she had to cook in it) so I was a bit worried about fitting it in. The plug points in my kitchen aren’t very well placed so I ended up setting it up on my stove.
Using the Philips Airfryer is SO easy. You plug it in, switch it on, set the timer and you’re good to go. I decided to make some yummy prawns with a sauce. The easiest recipe and it takes less than 15 minutes! My favourite part was how easy the Philips Airfryer was to clean. Once you’re done, take out the basket, give it a wash and it is good to pack away. So simple! The Philips Airfryer costs R2299.00.
You can also bake with it which blew my mind. I’m excited to start trying out a few new recipes and I never thought I’d say that!
If you’re wondering about my prawn recipe here’s a quick run down on how we did it:
Ingredients:
- 6 to 8 prawns (I used the frozen, de-shelled variety)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon chilli flakes
- 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
- 3 tablespoons mayoinnaise
How to:
Put the Philips Airfryer on to heat at 180 degrees. Add all the spices together in a bowl and coat your prawns. Toss them in the Airfryer for 8 minutes. While they’re cooking mix the sauces together to make a yummy thousand island mix. Take prawns out of the fryer, dip and eat. How easy?!
Of course Anne photographed the whole experience. Any excuse to see me out of my element in the kitchen. If you have any smart Airfryer recipes please share them in the comments below:
Disclaimer: The Philips Airfryer is a review unit. So they take it back and I stop cooking myself prawns.
