Stylish and Smart – The Guess Connect Smartwatch

I first saw the Guess Connect Smartwatch in Barcelona for Mobile World Congress 2015. I fell in love with it immediately and there were a few reasons why. My two main ones were:

  1. It came in a strong mail size as well as a smaller size better suited to females.
  2. The Guess Connect Smartwatch is ultimately a watch before it is smart. Even the smart functionality on the watch dies it still allows operates as a watch and allows you to tell the time. I liked that.

The watch is now available in South Africa for just under R5000. I have the blue and gold one. As someone not that interested in smartwatches I’ve been blown away by the Guess Connect Smartwatch. The watch connects to your phone via bluetooth and you are able to select to receive notifications from a stack of apps. Pretty much all the apps I use regularly were available in the list of notifications for apps. So my Snapchat messages, What’s apps and usual texts all now come through to my watch.

On the little blue screen you’re able to read your mails and text messages or see who is trying to phone you. The impressive part is that the watch then also has a microphone and audio speaker allowing you to use voice commands and take calls direct on your watch. I always thought this was a bit of a gimmick but using the watch has changed my mind. The Guess Connect Smartwatch allows me to leave my phone in my handbag (far more polite at coffee dates) but I get messages to my wrist. You’re able to customise the vibrate alerts so, in my case, I tweaked them accordingly to importance. Emails vibrate once while What’s Apps have a hard vibration twice. This allows me to know when to look down and when to ignore it.

If you miss a notification you simply tap the screen to see the last notification again. Setting up and the watch and using it has been an absolute pleasure. It’s easy to use and I am really starting to see the benefits of a smartwatch. Tonight I plan to link the camera app which will then allow me to use the watch as a “remote” shutter for pictures.

I’m in love. The Guess Connect Smartwatch is compatible with iOS and Android. It is also water resistant. I have the blue and gold watch but the white one is also gorgeous. Which is your favourite?

I'd love to chat to you some more.
