Facebook is always updating itself and when they do people go nuts. Especially when they change the layout. But recently Facebook has been making really cool changes. Here are 5 recent Facebook updates we love.
1. Now you can search public posts
If you posted it publicly, anyone can view it. Before this, a search would only bring up liked pages and friends.
While this might seem extreme (be sure to change your settings), this does make it so much easier to monitor campaigns if the posts are public.
2. Instant articles
Instant Articles are simply the articles already in your Facebook News Feed, made more beautiful. Instant Articles will also load much faster than any web content, which is a smart move to get people to read your content. Currently only available on iOS.
On that note, every Tuesday Facebook will have slow internet to see how people use the social media platform in emerging markets, like India.
3. Introducing friendsphotos
This little app allows you to add text and emoticons to existing photos to show your friends how much you really like them.
4. The Other inbox in Messenger is no more so forget phone numbers
The rule is pretty simple: If you’re friends on Facebook, if you have each other’s contact info in your phone and have these synced, or if you have an existing open thread, the new messages from that sender will be routed to your inbox. Everything else will now be a message request, minus spam attempts that we will continue to ruthlessly combat. – David Marcus
Messenger also allows you to now customize your notifications.
5. Facebook updated its iOS app to solve battery drain issue
After public outrage, Facebook has fixed the excessive battery use for its iOS app. Here is part of the official explanation from Facebook’s engineering manager, Ari Grant.
