I have, for many years, been a big advocate of the small Jozi catering company called The Counter. They started out at Market on Main in Johannesburg selling their delicious burgers and renowned Chocolate Brownies (the best brownies in South Africa, easily).
Over time The Counter has grown and can now be found all over Johannesburg at various markets selling their delicious home made sweets. My biggest gripe was that sometimes I just don’t have the time to get to the various spots and feed my sweet tooth. We’re a busy bunch and, if I’m honest, most weekends I don’t want to leave my house.
Most of my shopping is now done online. I want to spend a few minutes choosing what I need and having it delivered to my door. The Counter heard my pleas and introduced their Love Box. A monthly box delivered to your door and filled with some of the best home made sweets as well as a few experimental options for you to try.
Andrea over at Clever Bird Banter was one of the first recipients of The Love Box and blogged about what she received. She’s kindly allowed me to use her pictures to show you why this is possibly the perfect monthly gift to yourself.
The first box arrived and inside Andrea found one of those famous brownies, white choc fudge, an Aero Marshmallow, Salted Caramel, rocky road bar and a condensed milk cookie. I think what I really love about the box is the beautiful way it was put together. What a special package to receive! The best part? You never need to leave your computer. Simply order online. You can either book for a once off box (clever gift idea for someone special) or book a 3 month box. Once off boxes cost R220 while a three month subscription costs R200 a month. You need to book your box before the second Tuesday of the month (see I’ve given you some time to get your order in this month) and pay before the Friday to confirm delivery.
The boxes are made fresh so you need to stick to the ordering times. Book your box here. There goes my diet. Sigh.

Disclaimer: I love The Counter and how the pair behind the business are just killing it as young entrepreneurs. No freebies here. Though if you buy a box for me from them, I won’t say no.
