What it does:
The GoHello App doesn’t offer up a new concept per say, it just builds on one we’ve become familiar with (and one I love). The bottom line is – word of mouth works. The peer review system for restaurants and the like allows you to search for spots in your area and then see what your friends had to say about them. GoHello works in a similar fashion. Depending on your city (it currently works in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town) you can search for places to eat, places to stay, spas and beauty salons as well as fun things to do in town.
When you open the app up it has a really great visual set up showing you featured brands (I’m presuming these are paid for spots), specials you can take advantage of and what’s new and happening in your area.
You can then search according to a range of filters what’s new, specials, top 25 ratings, distance from your location and categories to find what you’re looking for.
Once you click on a place or brand you get a fantastic break down of the spot including pictures, descriptions, reviews, contact details, directions and the like.
I really liked the add on at the bottom that shows what else the app recommends as well as what is close by (so if you’re enjoying after work drinks and want to search for a cosy spot for dinner you can find something nearby).
Writing reviews is relatively easy and limited to 500 words so they’re short and to the point – I really liked that.
All in all this app is so visually appealing to me. It’s beautifully put together and using it was relatively easy. The registering process took me a bit of time but once that was done I was good to go. I plan to abuse all the specials. Sneaky hotel get away down the road anyone?
