Remember how I told you about the Ford Go Further event last week? At the event Ford unveiled the Mustang to South Africa. We’ve know it is coming but to hear the roar of the engine and watch it drive on stage gave me goosebumps. I think the goosebumps were in part also courtesy of the build up video that played before the car appeared.
These events all follow a pretty standard format: greeted by someone. Someone introduces another important someone. Important someone says a few things. Shows us some media. Cool thing is unveiled.
Some brands get it horribly wrong. Some get it right. Ford’s Mustang unveiling was pretty much spot on. I filmed the entrance on my phone and tried to capture the incredible build up video that was played. The phone capture really didn’t do it justice so I decided to hunt down the video (and by hunt I mean get someone from Retroviral – the guys who created it – to email it to me).
Interesting story behind this one: when Retroviral was commissioned to create this video the car wasn’t in the country. This meant they had to create the advert without the product. Sounds absurd and yet, they nailed it. Oh, there is also a link at the end of the video for the ‘Mustang Lottery’, which allows you to jump to the front of the purchase queue. I’m not saying you should order a Mustang for me but… that’s exactly what I’m saying. Gifting others makes you feel good. Promise.
