Boogie Board Sync 9.7 Review

I know I work in the digital industry, but I always carry a paper notebook around with me and absolutely love writing. Buying stationery and finding the perfect pen has the same happiness factor as jumping in crunching leaves. So when I saw the Boogie Board Sync 9.7 e-writer’s slogan “Say goodbye to paper”, I was sceptical.

The first thing that you notice is that the Boogie Board Sync 9.7 is really thin and light. The second is that it doesn’t have a coloured screen and isn’t like a tablet at all, and that is what makes it incredible. When you pick up the stylus and start writing it feels like you are writing on paper. You can control the thickness of the lines by applying more or less pressure. It took me back to my etch-a-sketch childhood days, and the doodling began. It has the same appeal as adult colouring in. I am by no means an artist, but if I was this could be really fun.

The novelty of the Boogie Board Sync 9.7 is amazing, but after some doodling, I wondered what else it could be used for. Their website lists a few practical uses, like the ones below.

Uses for the Boogie Board Sync 9.7
  • Home & Office: stick one to the fridge, to do and shopping lists, writing memos, leaving reminders, doing quick calculations, jotting down ideas, etc.
  • Education: practice handwriting and math, draw pictures, complete learning activities (telling time), play games (tic tac toe, hang man), lecture notes, homework assignments, problem solving, charts/graphs, conceptual thinking
  • Health Care: Emergency room physicians use it to record short-term, confidential patient information that must be permanently disposed of after use.

But here are some fun ones.
