Facebook is testing self destructing status updates

I figure Facebook’s new company mantra must be “if we can’t buy it we’ll copy it.” The social media giant attempted to buy Snapchat for more than R30 billion but the messaging service sent ’em packing. Next option? Well, copy it right?

According to the Tech Times Facebook is now testing self destructing status updates. At the moment the feature is being tested on the iOS app only but I have no doubt they’ll likely roll it out over time. So the real question is, what sort of posts would you want to put on a timer or self destruct?

I’m thinking For Sale status updates, maybe selling concert tickets (you can set it to destruct once it is sold) BUT you could just as easily delete those updates. I’m so not sure about this one. Would you want the option to set a time limit to your Facebook status update?

I'd love to chat to you some more.

I usually send out a weekly mailer with a recap of blog posts but also some personal anecdotes. If you want to know about competitions or just catch up in a more personal setting then you might like to receive the mailer.
