iOS 8 is rolling out today (17 September). Now, while you may still be miserable about the whole “I didn’t want this free U2 album” fiasco (here’s how to remove it, by the way). It’s time to take a deep breath and appreciate a some of the good things about your updated Apple operating system. Here’s the 3 things we love about iOS 8.
1. Siri might actually know what she is doing
Apple tells us Siri has been tweaked (minds out the gutter). She’s going to (hopefully) understand you a bit better now and not be a nuisance. You also only have to say “Hey Siri” and she’ll be there, rather than having to press any buttons. Plus she’s now fluent in 22 languages. So that’s nice.
2. Typing all the things
Quick Type is going to “revolutionise” the way you type. Well not really. It’s just an improvement on predictive text so autocorrect fails should become far less. You’re also now able to load up third party keyboard apps. But let’s be honest, who actually does that?
3. Moms have control
Apple’s introduced a new family offering with iOS 8. Up to 6 members can share purchased apps, music and the like using the same credit card details. The big one (and the one we know moms will be loving) is that you can now tweak your settings so your kids will need to request app purchases and spend. You’ll have control of how much moola they blow. No nasty surprises at the end of the month!
So there you have it. The 3 things we love about iOS 8. Now all you need to remember is not to take photos in the nude as they may back up to the cloud and you’re good to go!
