L’Oréal Paris has decided to incorporate tech into their sales technique but introducing a virtual makeup tester that lets you try before you buy. Makeup Genius is the first app of its kind and allows you to add a photo of yourself before selecting various makeup options and styles to try out.
The app then adds the products and looks to your face and you can then determine what you love or hate. You’re able to pose and the makeup still maps accurately to your face (so you can try a duckface selfie look or a genuine smile to get a feel for the products).
Once you’ve found a look you like you’re able to share the pictures on social media and also save a list of the products used. Then you need to pop to your nearest L’Oreal stockist or order online to purchase them and create the look in “real life”.
Currently the app is only available for iOS and can be downloaded for free from the iStore. Tech Girl contributor Tanya Kavorsky gave the app a go for her parenting blog, Rattle & Mum. Here’s a picture of her test outs:
