Buy a watch change the world

We all like good looking tech in our lives. But imagine you were able to have good looking tech and do something to improve the lives of others.

You can. This is the 1:Face story:

The 1:Face Watch Movement has now begun in South Africa. The idea is a simple one, you purchase a gorgeous gadget and R45 is immediately donated to the cause linked to it. Each colour watch represents a different cause and organisation. So basically – buy a watch change the world.

I picked the blue watch which supports the Environment. The benefactor of my purchase will be Generation Earth, a green networking platform that aims to create eco-conscious leaders by developing green thinkers and doers.

You can choose a cause that speaks to you, be it Aids, Cancer, Water, Red Cross or Breast Cancer support. All you need to do is browse the 1:Face website and determine which cause sits close to your heart. The big benefit here is not only the R45 that is immediately donated. It is also that people will ultimately ask you about your watch, you’ll tell them and they’ll hopefully go off and support the cause – that way the movement continues to grow!

The watches are simplistic in style but still make a statement. They flash the time at a press of the button and the rest of the time have a clear reflective screen. They’re minimalistic and still on trend. I also think they look far more expensive than their R550 price tag. There is a list of retailers on the 1:Face website but some high-end boutiques around Johannesburg are currently stocking them, so pop past Supremebeing in Rosebank, AYK in Hyde Park or Rene Mariane in Morningside to get up close and personal with these gorgeous gadgets. We love that you can buy a watch and change the world.

The watches launched in SA late last year and have already provided the linked charities with R22 000 and that is just from online sales! You can find out a bit more by visiting the 1:Face website, liking their Facebook Page or following them on Twitter or Instagram. Buy a watch change the world.
