Google wants to help girls learn to code!

Yesterday, Google launched Made With Code. They’ve pushed more than R500 million into the coding project that aims to help girls learn to code.

Made With Code is a fantastic online resource that includes female technology role models, amazing coding projects that help young girls (and even “bigger” girls) learn the basics of coding and ultimately supplies an online support system to help girls learn to code and more importantly encourage more women to enter the computer science domain.

While the site is aimed at high schoolers, we spent some time on it this morning and loved every minute. It’s not just a website, it’s a tool to encourage more girls to investigate a career in Computer Science and a way for us “adults” to learn the basics of coding. A skill so important in today’s technology driven world.

Our favourite part of the site? All the fun resources available. We even coded our own Meme this morning – it was so easy and took less than 10 minutes:
