The photo sharing app Instagram came about in 2010 and I only really got onto it mid-last year. Partly because I had a BlackBerry; and the app is not available to BlackBerry users and partly because it’s just another platform to share photos, right? Urgh. I have Facebook for that.
I never really understood the big fuss about it because I didn’t fully get it. My first impression of Instagram was too many selfies and indulging in people’s narcissism. I could not have been more wrong! When I upgraded my phone to Not-A-BlackBerry, I downloaded the app and started learning more about it. Like it or not, we live in a visual world. This app allows us a sneak visual peek behind the scenes of someone’s life.
Instagram is a great way to travel around the world without lifting your lazy bum off the couch and it opens up a world to you of anything that you’re interested in. In my case that is primarily Ricki’s cats and his latest “cheeky” profile picture but it’s also FASHION!
I’ve found some great South African Fashionistas to follow. I love going through their feeds and getting a glimpse of their latest outfits of the day and the trends they’re sporting. Not only does it feed my fashion obsession but it also gives me some inspiration of my own.
I’ve consulted with two of my fashion obsessed friends and we’ve compiled a list of our favourite fashion forward ladies to follow.
So if you want your daily fix of fashion these are the South African fashionistas you need to add to your feed:
Raya Rossi – @thevisualjournal
Lizzy Naude – @lissiloves_instagram
Amy Scheepers – @amy_scheepers
Leanne – @arumlilea
Stevie French – @steviefrenchsa
Anna-Belle – @she_said
Irina Domanchuk – @irinadoman
Hopefully you find someone you like on our list. Who are your favourite fashion forward local lasses on Instagram?
