Win A Double Ticket to The Floating Tree: MINECON Viewing Party In JHB This Saturday

It’s no secret that I love Minecraft. It is a game that has crept deeply into my heart since I started playing it with my nephews earlier on in the year. I’ve gone from being a complete n00b, to knowing the crafting recipes without having to look them up, and just nerding out about it any chance I get.

Minecon

Minecon is a convention revolving around all things Minecraft hosted by its creators, Mojang. As with most big gaming and geek culture conventions, Minecon has always been one of the bucket list items for many Minecraft players globally. I say this because unless you have the means to travel to whichever country it’s hosted in that year, you need to suffer severe FOMO.

But not this year…

Introducing Minecon Earth

This year, Minecraft and Mojang wanted to make a Minecon for everyone. How? By taking it online through means of an interactive 90-minute stream which can be viewed anywhere in the world (as long as you have an internet connection).

But they didn’t stop there. There will be Minecon Earth viewing parties hosted all over the globe for fans to meet and interact with other crafters.

Below is a 90s style explanation of everything Minecon Earth is going to entail.

So what about South African Crafters?

This Saturday, Floating Tree will be hosting an Official MINECON Viewing Party in Killarney Mall, Johannesburg. The event will involve some giveaways too, over and above watching the stream on the big screen.

Registration will be from 18h00 and the live stream starts at 19h00 and should last around 90 minutes. Tickets are R95 per person. More details can be found here.

Now for the extra cool bit!

I have been given a double ticket to giveaway to someone on the blog. These tickets include entry into the cinema as well as a complimentary drink and popcorn.

All you need to do is drop a comment on this blog letting me know why you want to win. Also, for an extra entry just tweet this:

Hey @Chani_ZA and @TechGirlZA – please give me tickets to the MINECON Viewing Party http://wp.me/p4ukZI-4WI

If you aren’t based in JHB, you can still catch the stream online! Looking forward to meeting more crafters on Saturday!

Floating Tree: MINECON Viewing Party is under a one-time only license from Mojang, and is not organized, managed or hosted by Mojang. Organizer of Floating Tree is operating this event on its own accord with no supervision or support by Mojang.

I'd love to chat to you some more.

I usually send out a weekly mailer with a recap of blog posts but also some personal anecdotes. If you want to know about competitions or just catch up in a more personal setting then you might like to receive the mailer.
