How to sneak in to the Girl Geek Dinners in Johannesburg

Here’s the thing: Tickets to the Girl Geek Dinners in Johannesburg tend to sell out less than 24 hours after the next event is announced. The latest dinner is no exception. Set to take place on the 16th of July, the upcoming dinner’s tickets were gone in a matter of hours. No surprise, the speaker for the evening is going to be rather interesting and is an extremely impressive legal mind. Kerron Edmundson has advised FOUR governments on the privatisation of telecommunications operators and has worked on telecommunications and broadcast projects throughout Africa. She is a solicitor that consults on legal, regulatory and commercial issues to clients in the electronics communications industries.

Bottom line? It’s going to be an interesting evening.

The Girl Geek Dinners in Johannesburg are now sponsored by Cell C.For a small amount you get a three course dinner, complementary wine and what are starting to become legendary goodie bags filled with some of the best branded merch you’ll find. There is always an interesting guest speaker and the opportunity to mingle with like minded girl geeks.

It all sounds great right, except if you don’t have a ticket you’re likely rather bleak right now. Never fear, we know how to sneak in to the Girl Geek Dinners in Johannesburg…. okay not really. However, we do know that building up to the event some lucky ticket holders get bogged down at work and end up having to forgo the event. They usually notify the organisers. If you tweet @GGDJHB requesting to be added to the waiting list, you’ll be notified first should any tickets become available. It’s not a free ticket, we know, but you never know, add your name to the waiting list and you may be lucky.

If you do have a ticket for the event on the 16th be sure to come say hi (a few of the Tech Girls will be in attendance)!
